Peggy Jean Riley Little
Peggy Jean Riley Little, 79, bravely went to Heaven on November 18, 2017 surrounded by her children at Regency Hospital in Meridian, MS. She was born in Meridian, January 2nd, 1938 to Clarence and Eula Bell Riley and was the 5th child of eight children.
Peggy graduated valedictorian of her Clarkdale school graduating class of 1956 and went on to travel alongside her husband in The United States Air Force raising her 5 children over seas and across the United States for 23 years before resettling back in Meridian.
Peggy professed and lived her life for Christ as a lifelong member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist church in Zero Community. As a devoted member of the church she cherished the relationships she had with her friends and congregation. Peggy loved being social, participating in the Red Hats ladies society, square dancing, playing dominos at Meridian Community Center and helping organize events for the church and the community club. When she wasn’t out and about, she was an avid quilter. Quilting was her way of showing love and she prided herself on her beautiful creations. Peggy’s greatest job of all was being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Lovingly known as “Granny”, her children and grandchildren remember her for her loving demeanor, positive attitude, constant laughter and her ability to put others before herself... “to know her was to love her.”
Peggy is survived by her children, Katherine, Van (Nancy) and Brenda (David); grandchildren, Matthew, Kelly and Calvin; 3 great grandchildren; brother, Wayne Riley (Jean); sisters Gladys Ezelle, Dora Williams, Mable Riley, Clarice Ivy (Robert). Preceded in death by two of her sons- Richard "Ricky" Eastman and David Eastman; her parents; brother, William “Bubba” Riley; sister, Rosie Carraway. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that she loved dearly. Most, if not all of these survivors, have a quilt that was made by "Granny" with love.
A viewing will be held Tuesday November 21st from 12 - 2pm and followed by a service at Pleasant Hill United Methodist church lead by Pastors James Twiner and Alan Randall. Following the service, Peggy will be laid to rest behind Pleasant Hill between her sons, Ricky and David.

Oh how you will be greatly missed by all! You have fought a long hard fight, but now you no longer have anymore days of discomfort or pain. The memories you leave with us will be cherished forever. Your quilts have always been a treasure because you made them with the talent that is a God given talent. Your chocolate pies were the best! Your love was unconditional. Now we know you’re rejoicing in Heaven and having a Glorious day! Take care of My Boy Dylan, I know he will meet you with a smile! I love you and I’m glad there’s no more pain for you.
