Graveside services for Carol Ponds will be held Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at 11:00 am at Bethany Baptist Church in the Whynot Community, with Dr. John Temple officiating.
Miss Ponds, 71, passed away Friday, October 6, 2017, at her home.
Carol was a graduate of Southeast Lauderdale High School and attended business school in Meridian. She worked at several businesses in Meridian during her professional career, including Soule and USF&G. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, but in her later years attended Poplar Springs Drive Baptist Church. Carol spent much of the last 25 years as a caregiver for her parents and other family members. Her caring and compassionate nature and her love for her family were obvious to all who knew her.
Carol, an only child, is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Stennis and Marjorie Ponds and many aunts and uncles. She is survived by numerous cousins who will miss her bright smile.
Will miss you God bless your family amen

I loved Carol's giving and cheerful spirit; she was a sweet classmate and later a bridesmaid in my wedding. I admire her gift of caring for both her parents and her aunt.

When I came to Whynot as a new bride 46 years ago, Carol and her parents opened their arms and hearts to me because I was their beloved Woody's wife. They became family, and they treated our children as grandchildren. Carol was more than a friend to us. She spent Christmas with us and was a part of many other family gatherings. Her death leaves a void in our lives. How blessed I am to have known her! Rest in the arms of Jesus, Carol. We will meet you in Glory.
